After the Vietnam war, a team of scientists explores an uncharted island in the Pacific, venturing into the domain of the mighty Kong, and must fight to escape a primal Eden. A giant, reptilian monster surfaces, leaving destruction in its wake as it strides into New York City. To stop it, an earthworm scientist, his reporter ex-girlfriend, and other unlikely heroes team up to save their city.

Following this, Godzilla appeared briefly in the post-credits scene of the film, Kong: Skull Island , making a cameo appearance as two cave paintings and roaring as the film ends.
