Former adult film actor Mia Khalifa has opened up about how her family disowned her when they found out about her move into the industry. Speaking on the BBC's HARDtalk , Khalifa spoke about her path into adult film , explaining how it largely stemmed from rebellion and wanting to do something 'so out of bounds' and 'so out of character'. She said: "I shocked even myself. Interviewer Stephen Sackur then asked about whether or not her family had any idea about what she was doing at first, to which Khalifa replied: "No. She continued: " And they disowned me when they found out. And I just realised some mistakes aren't forgivable.

Some people can also relate to Mia, she said, adding, "That I posted this interview and that I am speaking out now, because other people feel the same way, and even if they do not relate on a deep level as doing porn, they can relate on the level of being insecure and being pressured into doing something that they did not want to do. Although it has been over three years since Mia quit working in the adult film industry, she said that she has no personal life even at this point of time.
